Former pint-sized rap duo Kriss Kross will reunite for a one-time concert for the 20th anniversary of Atlanta’s So So Def Recordings, founded by producer, (and Janet Jackson’s second ex-husband) Jermaine Dupri on February 23 at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre.
Chris “Mac Daddy” Kelly and Chris “Daddy Mac” Smith released the smash single, “Jump” in 1991. The song was #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for eight weeks in 1992,, when the duo were at the ripe old age of 12. Most memorably, Kriss Kross wore their clothes backwards, and kids everywhere began the “backwards clothing” craze.
Considered by many a “one-hit wonder,” their next two singles hit #13 and #64 on the chart. Kriss Kross went on to release two more albums, which flopped.
Along with Dupri, the group will be sharing the spolight with Da Brat, Xscape, and Bow Wow. Dupri discovered the duo in an Atlanta shopping mall in 1989 when the boys were both 12. Later they opened for Michael Jackson on his “Dangerous” world tour.
This year the boys (now men) both turned 32.
