Pakistan’s Minister of Human Rights Shireen Mazari sent a letter to the Executive Director of UNICEF. She calls for the withdrawal of Priyanka Chopra, super star of Indian cinema, from her position as ambassador for peace. She accuses him of supporting the Indian government following the revocation of Kashmir’s constitutional autonomy.
In her letter, the minister strongly accuses the Indian actress of “chauvinism” but also “to support the violation of article 370 by the government of Modi”. In addition, the Pakistani compares ” the policy of the BJP government (party of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi) to that of the Nazis, purification of race, racism, fascism and genocide.”
The actress is also in favor of a “nuclear war” between Pakistan and India. “Ms. Chopra publicly endorses the position of the Indian government and also supports the nuclear threat launched in Pakistan by the Indian Minister of Defense. All of this goes entirely against the principles of peace that Ms. Chopra is supposed to defend as a peace ambassador for the United Nations.”
Tensions between India and Pakistan have only intensified following the repeal of Article 370 of the Indian Constitution. He attributed a status of autonomy to the State of Kashmir.
A few days earlier, an influencer of Pakistani origin, Ayeesha Malik, had also accused Priyanka Chopra of being “hypocritical” but also fueling the conflict between the two countries following a tweet from the star dating back to February.
In her tweet, the actress expressed her support, following a bombing of an Islamist training camp by the Indian army in Balakot, Pakistan on February 26, 2019. The star had written “Jai Hind” which means “Long life in India.
